Edgar R. Newell, age 81 of Oshkosh, passed away on Friday October 5, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center. He was born in Oshkosh on July 23, 1926, the son of Ray and Laura Bradley Newell. Edgar was a truck driver in his earlier years, was a mechanic, and retired from Medalist Laserfab Inc. of Oshkosh as a machinist. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and yard work, playing sheepshead and cribbage. He is survived by his six sons and three daughters, Edgar J (Nancy) Newell, Oshkosh, Lynn (Pat) Newell, Jasper,GA, Christine (David) Misterek, Linda Behlman, Michael (Connie) Newell, Robert ( Pam) Newell, Kathleen (Joul) Molinski, all of Oshkosh, Gene (Mary) Newell, Milwaukee, James (Angie) Newell, Oshkosh; 30 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one brother, Melvin Newell, Oshkosh, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and his faithful canine companion Shayna. Edgar was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Rosemary Newell, his parents, one brother, Frank Newell, one sister, Charlotte Newell, and one son-in-law, Bernie Behlman. A Funeral Mass for Edgar will be held on Tuesday October 9, 2007 at 11:00 A.M., at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church (St. John's Catholic Church site) with the Rev. Fr. Thomas Reynebeau officiating. Entombment will be in Lake View Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at church on Monday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. and again Tuesday morning from 10:00 A.M. until time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. A special thank you to the Mercy Medical Emergency Room staff, Dr. Khatib, and the ICU Nursing staff, particularly Mike and Kelly for the great care, respect and compassion that was given to Edgar and his family.
